Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Chicago Fireboat Tours is at 111 N DuSable Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60601, at the end of lower Randolph Street and the lakefront. There is a convenient drop off at that address which is a short walk from our boat. Once at the harbor, we’re docked right behind the very large (376 feet) blue and white ship, the MV Abegweit, which houses the Columbia Yacht Club.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes, access to the harbor parking lot is at the same intersection as the harbor entrance. Across the street from the drop off point there is a frontage road that takes you down under DuSable Lake Shore Drive to the gate for the parking lot. You’ll take a ticket to enter then pay for parking before departing the lot. We place a picture in our confirmation emails when you book tickets to assist in finding it. If it is full, the next closest lot is the Millenium park Garage at 5 Columbus Dr. There are some parking apps such as spot hero that have parking nearby, who our customers have used in the past. Please allow plenty of time to find parking, walk to the boat, and arrive for your scheduled cruise departure time.
Are there bathrooms on the boat?
Yes! There are 2 bathrooms (called Heads) onboard, inside the main cabin across from the bar.
Do you serve food or drinks onboard?
For regular tours we have light snacks, non-alcoholic, and alcoholic beverages available for purchase at our bar onboard.
For private charters we can cater a variety of food from our Chicago restaurant partners.
*No BYOB or outside beverages are allowed. If you have something with you, our staff can stow it in a secure area then return it prior to your departure from the boat.
What payment methods do you take?
We accept cash and all major credit cards.
Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
There are 4 steps up onto our loading platform, then 4 steps down onto the boat. We’re working on improved ADA accessibility for the future.
Are dogs allowed onboard?
We do allow dogs onboard for our cruises. Dogs must remain leashed and with their owners at all times.
How many people can fit on the boat?
Our legal capacity is 127 passengers and plus 5 crew members.
Can I just walk up and get tickets?
If there is availability, sure! However, we do sell out rides, and booking tickets ahead of time is highly recommended.
Do you do offer any discounts for large groups?
Yes, for groups over 15 people, please contact our office at 312-919-3367 for more information and to book tickets.
Do you provide the tour in languages other than English?
No, not at this time. We are working on some info sheets in other languages to highlight key points along our tour.
Do the water cannons work still?
Not at this time, however we’re working on restoring one of them in the coming years.
